Hot Air Balloon Event Fills the Skies

The sky’s the limit every October when 750 hot air balloons participate in the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. The nine-day event will take place in 2008 from Oct. 4-12.

The celebration of flight occurs at Balloon Fiesta Park on the northern edge of the city. That is where all of the participating balloons are launched, and the fiesta is considered one of the most photographed events in the world.

The celebration has become so popular that an Albuquerque International Balloon Museum opened on the grounds in 2005, to provide a general history of ballooning.
